April Email Update (and Ramadan Mubarak!)
Hi there! We hope you guys are super excited for the upcoming NologyHacks! A few serious things to get out of the way first... Our tentative hacking dates are May 1-2; you'll receive an email in the coming days with any schedule changes. Also, if you have not already, please fill out the following form to officially register as a NologyHacks participant, https://3ogj613exi5.typeform.com/to/YcVMoNw8
Next, it's important to note that NologyHacks is a hackathon meant for high school students. However if you have not yet entered high school and welcome the challenge of competing against high schoolers, there's nothing stopping you! Undergraduate students are also welcome to participate, but will not receive preference for prizes(FYI undergrads, put down 12th grade in the form). Participants can work alone or up to a team of four participants(individual registration is still required). Additionally, if you have any friends who are interested in joining NologyHacks, please send them the registration link!
The last step in signing up for NologyHacks is joining our Slack Workspace. Slack will be used as a primary means of communication. We'll be creating some more fun channels leading up to the hackathon date so you can meet other high schoolers who share the same interests as you, but for now, feel free to use the private message function to network with potential teammates. As specified in our hacakthon rules, any forms of hate speech or bullying will not be tolerated and any participants involved will be removed from NologyHacks. Use the following link to join our Slack: https://tinyurl.com/3m3r4vef
While our Orientation (held a day prior to the NologyHacks kickoff) is not mandatory, we encourage all participants to attend. There'll also be a cool EchoAR sponsored registration gift given to everyone who attends Orientation!
Finally, NologyHacks will be held entirely over Zoom! While we don't expect individual participants to stay on our Zoom meeting for the entire 24 hours, the main room and all breakout rooms will be open for the entire hacking period. In terms of the format, the main room will be used for the Kickoff, Q&A, workshops, and movie night. We'll also have several breakout rooms opened for team collaboration, meditation/stretching, Among Us gameplay, themed Kahoots, and Demo rehearsal. We have some cool workshops set up so far, and we're currently reaching out to potential guest speakers, so stay tuned for more updates! Overall, we're so excited to see you (virtually lol) in May and hope you all stay safe and healthy!
If you would like to donate to NologyHacks, use the donation link below (any and all donated funds will be added to the prize pool). Donate to our hackathon: https://bank.hackclub.com/donations/start/nologyhacks
